Welcome to my site! My name is Kat Duck, and I am a trained spiritual director in Miami, Florida who engages in the art of listening and discernment. My training was completed at the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction in Tucson, Arizona. (Hesychia means stillness, quiet and tranquility.) I was trained in the art of evocative listening, helping people of all faiths live authentically from their spiritual centers. I am a member of the Episcopal Church and worked for the church and other non-profit agencies for many years. I try to live from “a still place” inside that provides room to embrace others who would enjoy companionship on the way.
Spiritual direction is an ancient practice designed to help you explore your sacred story with a person who is trained to listen attentively and confidentially. A director will sit alongside you in times of celebration, challenge, and in the ordinary moments of day-to-day life, carefully listening as you explore your relationship with God. Spiritual directors are not crisis managers or therapists, nor do they give advice, but are quiet companions on your faith journey.
A spiritual director asks questions that are designed to help you discern ways you can develop, deepen and/or enrich your faith. Sharing your story with a trained spiritual director can help you discover places in your life that you may want to explore more deeply. Your spiritual director provides a listening heart and a caring presence as you gently let your life honestly speak to you.
Spiritual direction can encourage you as you discern and develop practices that will support your faith, and regular conversations with a director can help you stay on the path you feel will help you grow.
